Open Classrooms
DATE: Thursday, 20th March
TIME: 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
WHERE: Classrooms & Wellbeing / Breakfast Club Room
WHY:
Based on feedback from the Family Satisfaction Survey, staff identified open classrooms as one way to strengthen family engagement and connections with the school.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- Parents can visit classrooms to see their child’s learning in action.
- This is an opportunity to meet and greet our families.
- Students will have the opportunity to share their learning and experiences.
- In the classes, there will be interactive activities for families to engage in.
- There will be classroom displays for students to explain their work
- If parents wish to discuss their child’s progress further, they can schedule an interview at another time.
- Mr Hudson will hold a sausage sizzle outside the Wellbeing / Breakfast Club Room and fruit will also be available.
School Uniform
It has been fantastic to see almost all children in school uniform during the first six weeks of the school year. Visitors to our school have commented on how many children are in uniform and how well-behaved they are. Keep up the great work.
Athletics Carnivals
North-West Primary Schools Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to all our Grade 3-6 students who represented the school at the combined North-West Primary Schools Athletics Carnival in Penguin. Our school finished 3rd in our division, which was a good result.

Spreyton Primary School Athletics Carnival
Our Spreyton Primary Athletics Carnival went off without a hitch. It was a busy day of activities for our Prep - 6 classes. Thanks to the families for coming along to support and cheer the children. Thanks to our staff for your support and organisation. Mr Henry does a great deal of organising behind the scenes, and he delivered another great carnival.

Spreyton Primary School Kinder Athletics Carnival
The Kindergarten children were very excited for their Athletics Carnival on Wednesday afternoon. Unfortunately, the rain finally turned up and changed their plans. Mr Henry was able to adapt this to an indoor event. Even with the rain, we had a great turnout of families, making it a very special day for the kinder children.
Naplan 2025
NAPLAN testing is in full swing. If students get a good night's sleep and some breakfast, it sets them up well for NAPLAN. Our Breakfast Club also allows students to top up on breakfast and some fresh fruit to start the day.

SCHOOL ASSOCIATION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The AGM of the Spreyton Primary School Association will be held on Thursday, the 27th of March 2025, at 6:00 pm in the staffroom. Results of the Association Election, if known, will be announced at the AGM.
The AGM will be followed by a general meeting at 7:00 pm.
SPREYTON PRIMARY SCHOOL VALUES AWARD RECIPIENTS - 7th March, 2025

CELEBRATION OF LEARNING - 3/4 Klineberg
In 3/4 Klineberg we are diving into a brand-new spelling program called Word Origins. This evidence-based approach focuses on exploring the history and structure of words, helping students understand how they are formed and where they come from. By learning about word origins, students can connect spelling patterns, meanings, and usage in a more meaningful way.
The Word Origins program makes spelling lessons interactive and engaging while also enhancing vocabulary, comprehension, and overall language skills. The results speak for themselves—students are becoming not only better spellers but also more curious and knowledgeable about the language they use every day. Check out the photos of our students fully immersed in their lessons, discovering the stories behind the words!

FOYER DISPLAY - 2/3 Bramich
In 2/3 Bramich, we read the book Where The Wild Things Are. Using inspiration from the illustrations, we created our own ‘wild things’. We studied complimentary colours and used these colours to help make our drawings stand out. Our drawings are made by using oil pastels.
We connected our artwork to our Literacy learning, focusing on adjectives (describing words) and how we could describe our own ‘wild things’.

JUNIOR LANDCARE 2025

This year, we have started with a record number of students wanting to participate in our Junior Landcare program: 53!
We have created three teams – a 5/6 team, a 3/4 Purton and Klineberg team, and a 3/4 Bramich and Davidson team. Each team will meet every three weeks.
So far this year, we have been harvesting and eating the spoils of last year's plantings (corn, strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers and zucchinis) and admiring our stunning sunflowers.
We have also started cleaning up the Outdoor classroom at the back of the school and have entered two competitions hosted by Tas Uni - Spoil Your Undies and Growing the Biggest Radish. These competitions centre around healthy soils.
Last Friday, Team Bramich and Davidson buried a pair of cotton undies in one of our garden beds. They will be exhumed in May. The more rotten the undies, the healthier the soil. This is a practice used on many farms in England.
The team also planted Black Radish seeds in our mini hot houses. Each class will manage the seedlings until they are ready for the garden beds. We will be trying to grow the biggest and heaviest radish for Agfest.

PAYMENT OF LEVIES 2025
Levies are one of the many ways that families contribute to our school community. They support student learning by contributing towards the cost of essential items and services.
Families should receive an invoice for levies in the next few days. Statements are posted from Hobart, and BPay details are provided for parents/carers to facilitate payment. Payment can be made online or at the school office via EFTPOS or cash between 8.00 am and 4.00 pm on school days.
Wherever possible, we ask that parents/carers pay the levies invoiced in full in Term One. However, we understand some circumstances mean this is not possible, and parents/carers may choose to agree to pay levies in instalments. Parents/Carers are encouraged to discuss setting up a payment plan as early as possible if there is difficulty in affording the levy charge.
This will enable us to set up an agreed instalment payment plan with regular weekly/fortnightly or monthly payments to suit your circumstance and ensure the levies are paid in full in an acceptable timeframe.
Families who are supported through the Student Assistance Scheme do not need to pay levies. If you have a current Health Care Card and have not already applied for STAS, please follow the link below to complete the application.
Parents/Carers of Grade 6 students have been invoiced for the Grade 6 Leavers Top for $40 per shirt; you should receive this in the next few days. Students will receive their Grade 6 Leavers Top/s when they arrive, and payment has been received.
