Lions Vision Screening
Thanks to the Lions Club for conducting free Children’s Vision Screening for children at Spreyton Primary School. Many families opted into the screening. The Lions Club were thankful for the opportunity and were able to send letters to families where a follow up was advised.
P/1 Wicks and P/1 Warwick - Arboretum Excursion
The students had a great hands-on learning experience. They were even able to see a platypus. Although, several students said they enjoyed the bus ride the most.
Rethink Waste
A Waste Education Officer visited our school on Friday May 9. They worked with our grade 2-3 and 3-4 classes. They gave students ideas on how they can reduce waste by taking actions to avoid, reduce, reuse or recycle.
Walk Safely to School
Thank you to the staff and parents who supported Spreyton Primary School students to walk from the Big Apple to school. They must have worked up an appetite on the walk because we had a lot of visitors to Breakfast Club.
Breakfast Club
Many thanks for all your kind donations and continued support of our Breakfast Club. The preliminary data looks very promising. It shows that student behaviour is improving, and they appear to be able to focus on learning for longer.
It doesn’t matter if children have already had breakfast at home or not. If they come to Breakfast Club, they get some yummy toast and when they get to class there is fruit available.

CELEBRATION OF LEARNING - 3/4 Purton
Grade 3/4 Purton have been learning to draw single point perspective drawings in Art. These are some of the responses to completing their work and some of the challenges they encountered.
In Art we have been learning how to draw single point perspective drawings. It was hard but most of us got there in the end. As soon as we did the first few things lots of us started complaining about how it wasn’t good enough. When we watched the video, we were all trying our best to sit still and copy the steps. The first step was to do a dot in the middle of our page, then rule two lines from the bottom corners of the page and join them together at the point. Next, we drew the horizon across the page. We coloured in the road and made trees that were shrinking as they got closer to the dot. We also coloured the outside of the road green for grass and we also drew a river which was shrinking as it got closer to the dot.
In Art we have been learning how to draw single point perspective drawings. A single point perspective drawing is where everything in the picture fades away to one single point. When you look at the picture you can see that it starts to look smaller – that’s because you are looking in the distance.
A single point perspective is when you mark one point on a page and your drawing fades to it.
We started by drawing a very light line close to the middle of the page. Then we put a small dot in the middle and drew two straight lines getting smaller for an illusion of getting further away. We also added other things like a river and trees that get smaller to add to the illusion.
A single point perspective is something that fades off in the distance.
It was hard to draw but mine is cool!
I struggled at the beginning but then it turned out really good in the end.
It looked easy but it was hard.
LACHIE said - It looked easy at the start but it was really hard.
